How To Opt Out of Smart Meters
National Grid provides an online opt-out form for its customers. Return the form via fax to 877-277-4755 or mail to:

PSEG /Long Island grants smart meter opt-outs to its residential customers. As of August 21, 2019, the opt-out fee is $15 a month. For more information, contact PSEG Customer Service at (800) 490-0025.
For local water districts, we recommend sending a letter, return receipt requested, stating your desire to opt-out of their smart meter program. Here is a sample letter:

Notice is hereby given that you and all employees, agents, contractors and related third parties are hereby denied customer's consent for entry to the above captioned property for the purpose of installing any electronic meter or monitoring device using wireless technology.
Wireless radiation emitted from AMR meters and other wireless devices has been classified as a Group 2B carcinogen by the World Health Organization, and prolonged, chronic exposure has not been proven safe, particularly for vulnerable populations including children, the elderly, people with implanted medical devices, or women who are pregnant.
Any attempt to enter on to this property for purposes of installing an AMR meter or like device hereinafter will be considered trespass and may be subject to an action for legal and equitable relief.
